Average IQ of people that voted

I came across this interesting chart just today which tabulates the average IQ of the states that voted for either Bush or Kerry in the 2004 election. The results are rather telling as seen below:

As seen from this chart here, states with lower IQs favored Bush while states with higher IQs favored Kerry. To put it bluntly, a good democracy only works when the general public is well educated... else you get what have you now in the US.

There seems to be a correlation between taxation and IQ as well - the higher the 'average IQ' of the state, the more likely your tax rates will be higher. The only real outlier in that survey was New Hampshire, and even that state went barely for Kerry 50/49.

A better question to ask is who was the better presidential candidate in terms of campaign strategy. Somebody needed to get the votes of the "lower IQ states" and clearly Bush mopped up.

Al Gore and John Kerry just blew their elections, albeit for different reasons.

I would say anyone who voted for either one of them has some psychological issues to begin with no matter what IQ.

Is there some data you might be able to post about IQ and taxation? It would also be interesting to see how well the tax funds are also spent in those states.

In the case of Bush "mopping up," there has also been connections between religion and IQ. Of an interesting note, highly religious people tended to have lower IQs from what I have seen from studies. The states that voted for Bush are located in Central and Southern US, which are far more religious than the coastal States.

I've made a point before that in order for a good democracy to work, you need an educated population base. I believe that is the weakest link for a democratic system. I would be more than happy to move to a country with a higher average IQ.

Your statement would indicate that all Americans have psychological issues since their country is runs off a 2 party system.

Pretty much everyone is suffering from stockholm syndrome to some extent or another due to human nature and the dependency of authority while being a child.

The following might just be my imagination but I often see a tendency that the left want the government to be of the mother and the right to make the government a father figure.
