The bad:
The cold got debilitatingly worse.
Spent $20 on medicine that doesn't really work.
The laptop died.
The Good:
Backed up all experimental data and personal data.
Roomies went on a mid-night run to buy ginger and lemons for some home-brew cold remedies.
The Ugly:
The laptop is out of warranty and I am betting that it's going to costly to fix (but I'm going to have to anyways).

I believe it was a software problem turned hardware.
Recently, I upgradded my winamp to 5.31 and it started crashing the system whenever I was streaming video off my external hard drive after 20-30 minutes (ie, the power just gets cut). Never had problems like this before.
I kept at it though and decided to backup my data just incase. After the 3rd crash the computer didn't restart and I realized that these problems started after I upgraded my winamp.
I think that a fuse or something has blown. The laptop doesn't accept power from the adapter anymore, nor does it boot with just the battery.
I've located a service center in Japan. The problem is that it's in Tokyo, about 300 km away from here. I'd called them today but it's a national holiday today so I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow.
I'm on one of my roomie's computers for the day.
LOL radrex! Are you off your medication at the moment?
I`ve got another week left to get something together. The way things look, I might be able to get something useable for a paper going in the next 4 days. Saturday is a write off since the lab has meetings on Saturdays.
This is going to be cutting it really close to the deadline.
Of an interesting note, my voice has totally mutated into something weird fro mthe cold. It`s got like +100 to bass or something.
Really tired still, need to kill this thing soon... got work to do!
